Pike Lake

We had an awesome day at Pike Lake on Sunday. When we first told the kids we were going to the lake that morning they were disappointed that it wasn't Grandma and Grandpa's lake, but they got over it. We are planning on doing more camping this summer with our trailer so we wanted to check it seeing as it's only about half and hour away. And was great!

The kids had a lot of fun at the playground to start with. The only problem with playgrounds for us is that it's bound to end up in Maggie's getting upset at some point because she has to share the swings. Seriously, this girl has a swing obsession! I am waiting to find a playground that more than just a few swings!

The boys did get a chance to go on them.


Then we went down to the lake. They had so much fun playing in the water and scooping up the water and sand. Maggie was a little more hesitant to go in the water but the boys got right in.




They found a stick that right away they called Sharkie. And strangely enough, it really does look like a shark. Sharkie rode home with us in the back of the van.



There's also a pool and waterslide there which wasn't open for the season yet, but it will be great when we go back. We had a picnic and then got the kids some ice cream which was the highlight of the day for them.



Casey is such a clean eater, Mitchell and Maggie not so much. I love how Maggie shoves the cone in her mouth and then asks for more!





Don't you hate it when you get ice cream up your nose? Mitchell has had this problem on more than one occasion but doesn't seem to mind.

1st Birthday Party & Mother's Day

Mother's Day seems like it was months ago but I guess it was only a few ago. It was a nice weekend. Daniel and I went out Friday night with our friends Leah and Tim and Jen and Sheldon to celebrate Leah and Tim's engagement. We are so happy for them and very excited for their wedding in Mexico in January!

Saturday the kids and I went to North Battleford for my nephew Calder's 1st birthday party. It was a great afternoon, the kids had a blast. I was so proud of them for having 2 servings of cake and ice cream...just like their mommy!

Sunday we travelled back home and then dealt with the wrath of 3 SUPER grouchy kids! Seriously, after only 2 nights of going to bed later than usual and waking up before 6:00am Sunday morning they were little monsters! We, or I should say "I", am not as strict with their schedule as when they were younger but this is a good reminder why we do still keep their bedtime and naptime pretty consistent. They sleep a fair amount compared to other kids their age age and obviously they need it!

I did get a nice big Mother's Day drawing which was great.


Mitchell decided to have a waxy snack part way through.

I can say that as happy as I was to get our little grouchos into bed that night, I did stop to think about how extremely lucky I am to be able to celebrate Mother's Day and be a mother to 3 beautiful, healthy, sweet children.

They were in no mood to take a picture with me that night so this is from another, calmer evening before bed.

Back To Normal

Mitchell has had a pretty rough couple of weeks. The poor little guy has been so constipated and uncomfortable and it got to the point where he was hardly eating or drinking anything. Whenever I would change his diaper he would say, "No mommy hurt my bum" and he said to Daniel, "No more stick in my bum daddy". But after numerous interventions that he did NOT enjoy, he is finally back to his normal self. We have to add a liquid to his milk for about a month to make sure that he stays regular.

On another note, we've been to the zoo a number of times this spring and the kids have so much fun there. They are loving the freedom of not being in a stroller and besides one day where we had a talk in the van afterwards that "It's scary to get lost so you have to stay by mommy", they've been pretty good.

We fed the goats when we first got there so then they were trying to feed every single animal leaves and twigs. They would say, "Come here buffalo, come and eat!"

It's a perfect place to meet our friends...Leah, Ruby, Casey, Maggie and Mitchell.



FREEDOM!


Maggie loves her pink hockey shirt and Daddy loves that it's the Red Wings. The kids actually like to watch hockey on tv. They think it's Daddy playing.

I don't think Casey could get any more comfy.

I love busting Mitchell when he's doing something he knows he's not supposed to. He always gives this devilish grin.


This will come in handy for us when he is a teenager!

Lots of Videos

A number of people have asked me if the kids have their own language between them and I've always said no. But after listening to them talk endlessly to each other while they are in their cribs and supposed to be sleeping, I finally realized that they totally do have their own little language. On days that they decide not to nap they still hang out in their cribs for up to 3 hours, just chatting away to each other. There are some real words that are being said but there is also a lot of jabbering. I love to stand outside their door and listen. They will talk about something, then they'll start to babble and then break out in giggles. It's so funny! Lately they've been saying their ABC's and the song at the end and then they clap and say "Good job! Again?" This morning Casey was saying, "Hey Maggie, wake up! Hey Mitchell, wake up!"

Casey is a real boy! He thinks it's hilarious to talk about bugs, boogies and poopie. This day it was a buggie boogie and big giant poop. Lovely!



Mitchell is the one that sounds like a wounded bird and Casey is the one that's telling him he's done now. He really dominates the conversations!

...which then reminded me of this video that I love of the boys when they were 8 months old!



At 13 months old Casey was already chatting nonsense non-stop.



And he hasn't stopped since!
