We Made It!

It has been a crazy past week, but we survived and are in our new house! We hired movers and I now understand what people meant when they said it would be money well spent. The one guy said when he pulled up to our house that he didn`t think it looked like they would need their biggest truck, but after having a look around inside and then actually packing it all he was thankful they had it. They started loading our stuff a little after 9 am and worked almost straight through until 6 pm. Grandma and Grandpa Reiter had the babies with them from Sunday until Thursday, one day longer than we planned to give us an extra day. As much as we wanted them home the house was no where near ready for them. There is no way we could have done this move with our 3 little curious georges around the house. I definitely underestimated how long it would take us to get somewhat unpacked and settled.

Daniel and I were looking forward to their reaction when they came into the house. We've obviously been other places before and they've been fine, but we were curious what they'd do when they saw all of their things. They climbed up the stairs and explored a bit, found the toy strollers that I got for them at the twin and triplet sale and then cruised around the house. They saw their room and went straight to their beds to see their puppies and bunnies. At bedtime it took Casey a little while to settle down but then it was lights out until after 7 am this morning. They had a good day today and seemed to really enjoy all of their freedom. We are baby gate free in this new house which I am realizing now may not be a good thing, it may be nice to keep them somewhat contained in certain areas but we'll give it a try. We've been a little too busy to take many pictures but here are a few that we have gotten so far.

They've enjoyed a few areas of the house that we thought they would. The stairs of course are a lot of fun to go up and down over and over. They have enjoyed climbing the stairs up to the landing area in front of our master bedroom. They peek down through the spindles, jump and down hanging on to them and sit there with their legs sticking through dangling over the edge.

Maggie had a blast jumping up and down, her hair flipping all over the place.

They like going down to the entrance to play with the door, the door stopper and the rug and then they chase each other back up the stairs.


While Daniel was loading up some last minute things from our old house before we gave up possession today I took the babies over and we let them run around in the empty house. We were curious to see what they would do when they noticed all of their things were missing. They walked around with their hands up in the air saying "Go, go", which is their way of asking where something went. Mitchell especially couldn't figure out where things went. It was really cute.

We still have a lot to do around here and many more boxes to unpack but we`re settled in enough to enjoy our new place. I`ll post picures of our place once I get a chance to take some.

Terrible 2's x 3!!!

We're in it, full force. How did this happen? I thought we didn't have to worry about the terrible 2's until they were actually 2 years old? Well, I found out from talking with other people that many kids jump into this stage earlier than age 2, and I would have to say that we are definately there 3 times over! Meltdowns over seemingly little things are now common occurences in our house. Do the terrible 2's x 3 = 6?

Maggie is super possessive over this ride on fire truck. If anyone comes near it she is instantly angry. I got two more off of kijiji so now she has moved onto a cooler Winnie the Poo one that lights up and makes noise. Casey usually goes for the other lights and sounds Nemo one and then Mitchell gets the fire truck. He is usually okay with that and plays with other things until he realizes that it really ticks Maggie off if he tries to sit on it, then that's his new favorite game. Maggie's possessivness over any ride on or push toys carries over to other people's houses too where she goes straight for them.


Another toy we have that gets fought over a lot is the Fisher Price piggy bank. Maggie is so sneaky. The other day, everyone was taking a turn putting a coin in and when it was Maggie's turn she would put her coin in half way and then just hold it there. She totally knew that is was technically still her turn while she was holding onto it so the boys couldn't go. It just amazes me what they already know and what they try to get away with. Mitchell was telling me that he was closing the door.

At snack time they all say "Nack, nack" and sit down in front of our island. They spread their legs open and I put whatever their snack is on the floor in front of them. What they've recently started doing is putting all of their snacks into their hands to "save" them and then reach over grab snacks from their neighbor's pile. Sneaky little devils!



Recently Mitchell has found a new way to torment Casey and Maggie. He will stand on a tiny piece of their blankets, just enough so that when they pull on it to get away they can't get him off. As he's doing it he has such a mischeavious look on his face and totally knows he's being a booger. We'll tell him to get off their blanket and usually he will, only to next time just put his big toe on the blanket as he is looking at us and grinning. (Daniel may not be too happy with these pictures of the boys. I was putting a barette in Maggie's hair and they wanted one too. It looked so cute on them and stayed in so well with their curly hair.)


Casey has Go-Go Gadget arms, I swear this boy can reach absolutely anything he wants that is up on the tables or counter. Either he stands on his tip toes and gets things that I think are out of reach or else he gets a golf club, then uses it to hook what he wants and pulls it off. The other day I thought the carton of eggs were well out of his reach on the island. As I heard half a dozen eggs fall onto the floor and crack I realized, apparently they were't far enough back.


Maggie tries to be the little diciplinarian. If the boys are being loud, fighting or crying she will often "shhhhh" them, holding her finger up to her lips and then say "no, no, no" as she shakes her finger at them. It's hilarious! I guess I need to start watching what I do and say around her. You can see in this picture that she is starting to get some curls too.

She was outraged that her strawberries were gone.

It amazes me that at this age they have already figured out how to push each other's buttons and love to do it.

We have started time outs in our house. It started with jumping and standing up on the couch. In our new house our couch will be in front of the railing going down to the entrance so we want them to learn that they can't stand up on the couch and hang over it now, as opposed to when they potentially fall over the railing at the new house. I am reading a book called 1-2-3 Magic where it suggests that they get two warnings, so in our case, we say "on your bum, that's 1" and hold up 1 finger. The next time is 2, and then on number 3 they are off to their crib for a time out. I think it really has helped. We still have a few offenders each day not but like the first day where we made probably 20 trips in and out of their bedrooms. They caught on pretty quickly after that first day. Maggie will sometimes hold up one finger when someone gets a #1 and count for us.

With all of this being said and the fact that they are a handful at times, they're cuter than ever and we're having so much fun with them!

Party Weekend

This past Saturday we went to a 1st, a 3rd and an 80th birthday party. The 1st and 3rd celebrations were at the same party, our friends Pat and Karen's little ones are just over a week apart so there was one big party for Rylan and Brynn. The babies had a blast outside at the party! Casey was soooo excited watching Daniel blow bubbles, he was squealing with delight. It was hilarious to watch him!



Maggie also liked the bubbles, not to watch or chase them, but rather to suck on the wand and blow bubbles in her mouth. She was so funny, she would stick the wand in the bottle of bubbles, put it up to her mouth as if to blow on it but then stick it in her mouth and suck all of the bubble stuff off. Then when she would open her mouth bubbles would come out. We looked on the bottle and it said non-toxic but then it also said do not drink. I wonder if sucking it off the wand is considered the same as drinking it?



Mitchell had a lot of fun outside too, but he kind of bounced around. He would be interested in the bubbles for a while, then go check out what the big kids were doing, then say hi to Thomas the cat in the window, then take advantage of his freedom and run around.



The babies got helium balloons to take home from the party and those were a major source of squealing fun when we got home. Thanks for the great party Pat and Karen!

After we left the kids party we went off to my aunt's 80th birthday celebration. We visited for a while and then there was a short program where the babies were pretty good for most of it. Mitchell almost fell asleep on Uncle Jody while Maggie and Casey chowed down on grapes with Grandma and Grandpa.

We got their pj's on and headed home after a couple of hours. I was surprised we were able to stay as late as we did seeing as that party started at 7:30, which is when the babies usually go to bed. It was around 10:00 when they finally crashed. Daniel made a comment another weekend when they were up late, asking me where the schedule Nazi went. I assured him not to worry, she's just takes a night off every now and then.

The next day we went over to Gail and Dave's for brunch. Dave brought out some hats for the babies to play with and they had fun trying them all on. Maggie laid claim to this bright green hat that perfectly matched her outfit.

It was a very busy, but fun weekend. It was nice to see some of my extended family that we don't get a chance to see very often.

The babies are all over their colds and back to their normal selves again. Although Mitchell is now getting his eye teeth which seem causing him a fair bit of grief. We have been super busy here the past few weeks. We finally got a new computer after spending a fair bit of time with the old one and then finding a new one we wanted. I have been sorting and tagging things for the twin and triplet sale that I'll be at Friday night and Saturday. And then of course the big task of getting things packed and sorted for our move. My parents are going to take the babies to their place on Sunday, we have movers booked for Monday, we'll hopefully get settled in at our new place, come back to clean here and then have the babies back on Wednesday. We're curious to see how they adjust to living in a different house. I'm sure it won't take them long once they realize all of their things are there.

Day At the Zoo

A few weeks ago the babies and I went to the zoo with our "multiple buddies". We all went last year about the same time and wow, what a difference a year makes. The kids were all making (or trying to make) the animal sounds and pretty interested in watching them.

The first animals that we saw were the bears. They came right up to the glass so we could all get a good look at them and then the bear in the picture sat himself down in a little hole as if he were in his lazy-boy chair.

There were chickens running around that would come right up to us. I thought Casey was going to get his toes pecked off, surprisingly he didn't seem to mind though.

After walking around the zoo we went to the monkey house where the kids could get out and run around. There were also rabbits, baby chicks and other birds that they could see. Casey seemed a little scared of the cute bunnies behind the cage, but not the ugly chicken that could have bit his toe off, go figure.

Next time we go to the zoo I'll get us a family season pass. It's only $65 so I'm sure we'll get more than our money's worth out of it. Even though it was a pretty windy day, the babies really enjoyed it! I think in this picture they were keeping their eyes on the crazy chickens.

Technicial Difficulties & NICU Follow Up

Our computer is toast. Thankfully everything can still be salvaged from it, although we do also have all of our pictures backed up on a hard drive just in case. So until we get another computer (which hopefully will be this weekend) I won't be able to post any pictures.

Yesterday we went for the babies NICU follow-up with the pediatrician. He was happy with how everyone is doing. It was kind of funny, as they were doing their wild thing in the examining room he made the comment that he was sitting back and just enjoying the commotion from "the other side". Casey would not sit on the scale in order to be weighed so I had to sit on it while holding him and then sit on it myself...he wasn't in my good books for making me having to get on the scale! Haha! Mitchell thought it was funny when Dr. W. was checking his reflexes, he would giggle everytime he tapped him. Anyways, all was good and he confirmed that they are doing everything they should be at this age, including driving us nuts at times!

Casey was 28 lbs (75th percentile) and 32.75 in (50th %).
Mitchell was 24 lbs (25th %) and 32 in (25th %).
Maggie was 23.3 lbs (25th %) and 31.5 in(35th %).

They seem to go down a bit on their growth curves if they are sick for a week or two and not eating much, but then catch up again once their appetites are back to normal. Overall they are doing great and have just amazed us how far they have come from those early days.

Our house is so close to being done. Carpet is being installed, then we just need baseboards, final paint touch ups and then a bit of odds and ends. There is also some outside work to be done yet like leveling out the front yard and driveway/garage. We are getting really excited to finally get into the house. Although I have found myself watching them do things in our house now and thinking, is this the last time they'll be doing this? Things like: emptying out some of the kitchen drawers and throwing stuff all over the house for the umpteenth time because they broke the child proof lock, or throwing almost every toy they have upstairs over the baby gate down to the entrance, or fighting over which two get to sit under our desk area in the kitchen because all three of them don't fit under there anymore or pushing over our temporary folding kitchen chairs and sitting on them, or pushing their highchairs all over the kitchen playing bumper cars, or chasing each other around and around the island. We will have so many awesome memories when we leave this house.

The one picture that do have is of Maggie's best bud, Sid.

Sid the Science Kid is a show that she loves to watch. He has managed to bump the beloved Elmo down on Maggie's totem pole. When she hears the woman on the tv say that Sid is coming up next she runs to the tv and stands there until he's on. Then she jumps up and downs with delight when she sees him. The babies usually won't watch anything for more than a minute or two, so there must be something special about Sid. I think the only other person that she gets more excited to see is her daddy when he comes home from work.

Out of Control

The babies think it so much fun to twirl and spin around, get dizzy and then fall down. Here are a few videos of them. They aren't really clear because of the glare from the window, but you get the idea. For some reason the videos are black, but they work if you press play.




It is so funny to just sit back, watch and see what silly things they come up with. They are major copy cats right now so as soon as one of them does something (good or bad) the other two are doing it seconds later.

Happy Easter!

We are just getting back to normal after the Easter weekend. The babies all came down with colds over the weekend, nasty coughs and runny noses. We spent part of the weekend at home and then went to Grandma and Grandpa's Saturday night. When the babies woke up the next morning they had fun looking for their baskets and playing with the goodies.



The Easter bunny also brought blueberries which were probably the best gift of all. Blueberries and strawberries were two of the few things they would eat this weekend. They have decided that they don't like to eat in the booster seats that we bring along when we go visiting (although having no appetite with their colds didn't help either).

We went to Jody and Missy's, my brother and sister-in-law's, on Sunday. We got a pretty good shot of Grandma and Grandpa with all of their grandkids. Well, not quite all of them, we have a niece or nephew due to join us in about a month.

Thanks everyone for chasing our kids around the house and watching them as they went up and down the stairs, over and over and over. They had a lot of fun playing with everyone and then crashed hard that night.

The babies have become a little OCD with having all of the doors that are supposed to be closed, closed. If they see a drawer or door open they say, "Clo, clo, clo". They also like to say "door". This is what Mitchell and Maggie's mouth looks like when they are saying door or close, they pucker up their lips and look so cute!
