Broccoli Buddies

Casey and Mitchell are the perfect pair when it comes to eating broccoli. Casey only likes to eat the top part...

...and Mitchell only eats the stems.

Poor Maggie was under the weather with a bit of a flu bug so she had no interest in eating broccoli.

This cold weather has led to some major cabin fever around here so Saturday we got out with some friends. We went with Leah and Jen (and the kids' buddies Jordyn and Luke) to the U of S. It was great, the kids liked the dinosaurs, fish, lizards and other critters that they saw. I think the highlight though was just running through the hallways, they all burned off a lot of energy. However, when we first got into the building with the dinosaurs, Casey got quite scared and panicky when he looked up and saw the dinosaurs hanging from the ceiling above him. He latched onto Leah and would not let go!

He finally let Leah put him down once we stopped for juice and a snack. She didn't need to go to the gym that day after lugging her 35lb buddy around that morning.

Casey really likes to be around older kids, so of course he snuggled right up next to Jordyn.

It's Finally Time for the Tents

A few months ago when Mitchell and Maggie got out of their cribs I ordered crib tents. I had never heard of them until I entered this world of triplets and since then I've heard too many moms of multiples say that when they moved their toddlers out of cribs, naps went out the window. I can honestly say that there is no way that our kids are ready to give up naps, so up went the tents.

The anticipation of waiting for ALL 3 tents to be put on their cribs was like torture for them!

We are looking forward to not having to pick up 60 stuffed animals and cribs sheets off the floor each morning and afternoon!

They finally got to go in them...that was AWESOME!!!

Before bed that night they actually wanted to me to take their picture in front of their tents. They didn't make a peep when we zipped them up that first night and they have slept great every night since. Maggie, who used to wake up many nights because her 2 soothies had fallen out of her crib and she couldn't find them, hasn't cried out for me at all.

The one and only thing that I don't like about the tents is that I can't cover up the kids and tuck them in before I go to bed like I used to without unzipping them.

Before Daniel put the crib tents on, Maggie and Casey were showing off their muscles.

Maggie was convinced that her muscles were in her wrists and hands.

Earlier that day we decorated a gingerbread house I had tucked away in the pantry from Halloween. Once they realized that they could eat the icing, that's what it was all about.

The finished product!

Big Day in the Bathroom!

WARNING: potty pictures and talk. Don't read any further if this doesn't interest you.

Yesterday was a big day in our bathroom! I caught Mitchell as he was needing to go #2 and he agreed to sit on the potty. It took some time with his tractor and book but he went! That's a first in this house! He was SO proud and the best treat after was that he got to flush the big toilet.

But what happened after this was pretty funny. As Mitchell and I were celebrating in the bathroom, Daniel told Casey that Mitchell pooed in the potty and he was not impressed! He wanted to go try and do it himself, he couldn't let his brother show him up. Then of course Maggie wanted in on the competition too.

Casey was trying so hard to squeeze anything out, he was making all kinds of faces and sound effects, it was so funny!

Maggie managed to get about 3 little drops out and we did our celebration and then shortly after Casey did the same! They were all so happy! Right before this picture Maggie was jumping and spinning in the bathroom and fell head first into the tub. She got right up and had the biggest grin on her face!

It took me back to October 13th, 2009 when Mitchell walked for the first time, Maggie followed about an hour later and then Casey did it too an hour after that! Talk about sibling competition!

After all the excitement was over I put the potty seats on the counter so I could wash them later and then went back to the kitchen to finsh cleaning up. A few mintues later I heard the kids giggling and squealing and when I went back to check on them I saw that they were wearing the potty rings on their heads! Lovely!

Who knew that a "big pile of mess" as the kids were calling this was worth fighting over? It was very upsetting for Casey when Mitchell's broom would touch his pile...he kept shouting, "No Mitchell, my clean my mess"! I guess I should just be happy they were actually attempting to clean.

Another good thing about Tuesday was that we had some new friends come over to play who are just 10 weeks older than our kiddos. And thankfully, all five 2 year olds played really well together!

More Fun In the Snow

We were outside last week and the kids had a blast as usual. The really fun thing this day was that Daniel was shovelling snow off of the deck and throwing it down so it sprinkled the kids. They thought it was hilarious! Here are a couple pictures, but the videos do a better job of showing their enjoyment.

I love in this one that Maggie and Casey have a nice sister-brother moment, but it wasn't quite the same for Mitchell and Casey.

If snow had any nutritional content, we wouldn't have near the grocery bill that we do.

Daniel made a huge pile of snow and then dug a tunnel through it which has also been tons of fun. The kids were taking turns crawling through it, Maggie had to stop for a quick bite.

Sliding down the side of the pile is also fun!

Mitchell has fixed this poor little snowman so many times and he keeps falling down.

The nice weather has been pretty hit and miss. I cannot wait until it really warms up and we can get outside each day and not have to bundle everyone up. There is a new spray park that was just completed in the fall and it's only about a 5 minute walk from us. I can't wait!

3 years ago today we found out that I was pregnant, which was something that I wasn't sure would ever happen for us. I got the news at work and immediately started to cry, called Daniel and then tried to pull myself together to do a presentation. It was definitely THE best phone call I have ever gotten!

The nurse I spoke with told me that my beta numbers were a little high, which meant that there was a chance of more than just one baby, but we had to wait 2 more weeks for an ultrasound. The whole "more than one baby" thing didn't really set in that day, but it SURE did 2 weeks later!

We went to the Western Development Museum today. The kids had a great time looking at all of the tractors, trains and cars.

We stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home for a not so nutrious lunch of fries and ice cream.

Can you tell who is super serious about ice cream?

Our life is filled with so much more fun, love, excitement, noise, hugs, laughs and chaos than it was 3 years ago. I had no idea it would be this good! We are so lucky!
