The kids are now really starting to play with each other which is so much fun to watch. Here's a video of them playing duck, duck, goose but with them running to the pantry door and back instead of around in a circle.
After watching the video in my last post of Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo a few people (Daniel and my sister-in-law) have brought it to my attention that the kids added on a strange ending to the rhyme. You know when you grow up learning something a certain way and then someone tells you it's not right - of course you think they are wrong and probably a little crazy for not knowing that the way you do something is correct! Yes, that's how I feel too!

Eeny Meeny Miny Mo
Grandma taught the kids this little song in order to avoid a meltdown over who was going to come out of the tub first. It's one of the many coping mechanisms to use when dealing with three 3 year olds who ALL want to be first...or who want to be last or don't want to be last...or who want to be in the middle - or whatever it may be that day.
Casey is the most vocal and doing the majority of the singing this day, Maggie was doing the pointing and Mitchell was kind of singing along but still eating. This time they weren't happy with being picked as "the one".
One more video, our version of this song is missing a few meeny's and mo's.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Triplet Playdate
I am (not very successfully) trying to get caught up from our past few months. Our computer crashed, thankfully we had backed it up not too long before so most of our pictures were okay but man what a reminder of how important it is to back things up! I don't even want to think of losing ALL of our pictures! I have some developed of the kids but surprisingly I'm a little behind in that too. However, for some reason we can't open the file with all of their birthday and pre-school pictures! Hopefully soon!
The kids went through a stage where they absolutely LOVED Mickey and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Good thing for PVR! They have kind of moved on from him now but before this happened we took the kids out to Wilson's Greenhouse where there is a couple of huge outdoor bouncy houses and slides.
It was great, we had the place to ourself for most of the time we were there and the kids were all having a great time. Then for some reason Maggie decided once she got to the top of the slide that she didn't want to go down anymore. She wasn't budging. We both tried talking her into coming down the slide, going back down the way she went up, the boys would even go up there and hold her hand trying to get her to go down with them.
Nothing was working. She felt the need to just sit up there with this look on her face...it was SO funny!
Finally, when we had to leave Daniel went up and got her. Little stinker!
These pictures of Casey show the little of terror that he experienced going down (and his huge head of hair - ha!), but he was all smiles at the bottom!
Also back this summer we had the pleasure of finally meeting another family with triplets, whose girls are only just over a month older than ours (plus 2 older boys). I first met Dee outside of the NICU, I was still pregnant and going on a tour and her girls had just been born and she was there with them. We realized at that time that they lived over 4 hours away from us.
We didn't exchange contact info or anything but strangely enough we came in contact again months later on a website called Triplet Connection. It's a site for triplet parents with a forum that I found so helpful in the first year with the babies.
We kept in contact a bit after that and always said it would be great to meet with the kids being so close in age. Finally this summer Dee and her husband Brad and kids were going to be in Saskatoon for the night so they came over for supper and a visit - it was great! We got a few pictures that night and actually there was a point were it was relatively quite and us adults got to eat alone while the kids played downstairs.
Brad, Dee and ALL of the kids - their boys Gavin and Griffin, and the girls Naomi, Sarah and funny enough....Maggie!!
Looks like we gained another curly haired member in our family!
There aren't too many families with triplets where we live (and those that are here are older) so it was really nice to finally meet. I don't know if it's because of the one major thing that we have in common, but it actually seemed like this wasn;t our first time actually meeting. It will be great to do it again sometime soon!

Family Reunion (#2)
Family reunion #2 of the summer took us back to camping at Outlook which we were really looking forward to. All of Daniel's immediate family were there as well as his Grandma so it was nice to all be together. The kids of course had a great time - more time with their trucks, tractors, shovels, pails and then of course the playground and swimming pool. The nights were pretty cool but thankfully we have a heater in the trailer that keeps us all warm.
This is our setup in the trailer for the kids. I absolutely LOVE our Pea Pod Plus's!! I really don't think camping would work right now for us without them. So Mitchell and Maggie are in the bump-out and Casey is on the table bed. It works well for us, except when they are wired at night and jump around in their tents and fall down onto each other or the floor. I cannot imagine what chaos there would be without the tents.
Everyone squished into our bed first thing in the morning. Notice Mitchell's long string that he's hanging onto? He will pick at his blankie until he gets a piece loose like this and then carries it around by that string - until I cut it off, tie it and then he gets another.
Maggie does the weirdest thing with her blankie - kind of gross really. I want to document this so she can read this someday for herself! Ha ha! She has two specific corners on her blankie that she now calls her"crusty corners". Yes, our sweet little girl shoves the corners of her blankie up her nose and no matter how often I wash her blankie she still has these crusty corners - Ewww! When she first started doing it and I switched blankies on her she was ticked off when she couldn't find those two corners. Now however, she has "broken in" two blankies. Sorry, I'm sure you could have done without reading this but as I said I want to have it in writing so that when she's 15 and saying, "I didn't do that" I can show her this.
With all of us at the playground, 7 kids + adults, we pretty much took the place over.
We had a great time at the pool too. It was a great weekend!
August was an absolutely awesome month for weather. We spent a lot of time outside going for walks or in the backyard. The boys, especially Mitchell, always go for the sand first.
Maggie was our little ball player this day, look at that stance. Move on over Lisa Fernandez!

Daniel has taught the kids well - often when they throw a ball they'll say, "Step and throw", practicing stepping with the proper foot when they throw. Maggie and Casey are righties, but Mitchell does most things left although he does well with his right too.

Camping, Camping, Camping....!
...this what the kids scream anytime we mention camping. Even when we don't talk about it they (especially Maggie) ask at least every other day if we can go camping again. They LOVE it! This trip we went on in July was a lot of fun because we went with our friends Jen and Sheldon and their kids Jordyn and Luke. It works out great because Luke is just a few months older than our kids and Jordyn is 6 so the kids love to follow her around and listen to her and of course as any 6 year old would, she loves to tell them what to do. Ha! It's great!

It started pouring just as we pulling in to set up our spot but thankfully it didn't last long. The kids waste anytime getting into the trucks, tractors, pails and shovels - staples for our camping trips.

Just playing around the campsite. It was so cute to watch all 5 of them holding hands and going exploring as they called it. The Friedt's binoculars were a huge hit!
Jen and Sheldon let us take their bikes and trailer out for a ride with the kids. I've always thought about getting a chariot and putting 2 of the kids inside and one on a bike seat with Daniel or I, but it's just something I haven't looked into any further. Anyways, the kids LOVED it and we enjoyed it too! Biking with 3 kids up hills is quite the workout!

We camped at Outlook Regional Park and it was a fantastic spot, with a great playground and pool.
Jordyn and Luke - awesome kids!
I had a scary experience with Maggie in the pool! She had her life jacket on already and Daniel and I were getting the boys' jackets on. She started walking to the other end of the kiddie pool where the small slide was. I saw her standing at the top of the slide and though to myself, "That's not good...but she has a life jacket on and it's not too deep". I saw her go down the slide, she fell forward on her tummy as she went into the water, and because she wasn't big enough (or strong enough) to flip herself over she was stuck face down in the water. I jumped in with my clothes and ran across the pool to grab her. When I lifted her up she was sucking for air and startled but within a few seconds she was asking to go back down again. Needless to say I felt sick and was on edge the rest of the time! It was a clear reminder how easily tragedies could happen. As you can see, it didn't phase her.
